Okay The Road to Williamsport is up and running. The Kent boys won their first game on Saturday. They beat South Hill 15-0.
Their second game was Sunday at 9am against a pretty strong Soundview team who had beaten FME 9-0 the previous day. Kent won the game 7-1 and will now play on Wednesday at 5.45pm. When the game reports come in, we'll post them.
Well, we have a been a bit tardy on getting the news out, but here is the scoop.
Kent lost to Steel Lake on Wednesday night to hit the losers bracket. They played Thursday and won in 4 innings, by a lot to a few. They then took on Soundview who had dispatched Auburn the night before 2-1. Kent's bats were on fire.... winning the game in 4 innings 20-1.
Kent now plays Steel Lake in the final at 9.45am Saturday morning. To get to state, Kent must win on Saturday and Sunday to do that.
Come out and support Kent...... It's going to be a great game......!!!! Go Kent
The first two games posted will start this Saturday June 14th
Boys 9/10 team plays Bonney Lake / Sumner at 12 noon. All of their games will be at the South King County Ballfields (SKC)
Girls 9/10 team has combined with Tahoma and will play Fife Milton Edgwood also at 12 noon and also at SKC Ballfields.
Game Day Saturday
Boys 9/10 team pulled off a late come from behind win against a very courageous BLS team. They will play Federal Way American at 9.00am (8.45am start) on filed 2 at SKC Ballfields tomorrow, Sunday 6-15-08.
Well, I didn't get anything in the mail today so I have to give you some off the highlights. Probably the biggest one was the pitching of Derek Welch. With the help of some stellar defense, he was able to go 5 2/3 innings with Jordan Jones coming in to get the final out of the game. Derek not only pitched well, he also induced a 2 outs, full count, top of the 6th inning walk that started the comeback for the team. With some timely hitting from, the next three hitters, Kent was able to tie and then capture the lead for good.
One play that has to be mentioned was the incredible relay from the fence, to throw out the BLS runner at the plate. If you were looking for perfection, there it was. Even with an illegal head first slide, the ball was sitting there waiting for the runner that had started his trek from first base. But BLS was to be denied, with two excellent throws and a great tag, another BLS threat was thwarted.
Congratulations Kent LL Boys 9/10 All Stars.

Girls, 9/10 Tahoma/Kent Team was tied at 5-5 at the time of posting. At one point they were up 5-1, but a strong comeback got Bonney Lake back into the game. We will keep you posted.
Well, I didn't get a call from this group either, but they played well enough from what I heard to come back and win their game this afternoon. I'm not sure of the final score, but I do know they won. Final score was 15-14
Congratulations to Scott and his team for working hard and winning their game against Fife Milton Edgewood. They are now due to play South Hill at 9.00am (8.45am) at SKC Ball field #4
Mark,
I am so proud of girls, a team that only 1 week ago did not exist; competing in the District 10 All Star tournament. They have shown great maturity and strength throughout the short journey; honing skills and enjoying the opportunity and experience that comes with being an All-Star.
We won our very first game – a six inning affair that ended with the final out coming at home plate – giving our team a 15 – 14 victory. What an experience … for our fans as well as our girls (and coaches too).
Saturday we came out strong but were the David against the Goliath that is South Hill; the girls fought strong, coming up short in a loss 12 -1.
We play tomorrow night, South King County Park at 6:00pm … wish us well -

Let's make sure we get up there and support these young ladies as they work hard to win the district title.
Game Day Sunday
Girls 9/10 The report I got was as follows:
They won on Saturday against FME 15 to 14, but lost this morning to
> South Hill 13 to 1. We play tomorrow at 6:00 against either FME or
> Soundview. Hopefully this info helps. So let's support the girls as they travel the long road to State.
Boys 9/10 Started slow again today but after trading a couple of runs for each of the first two innings finally got something started. With the help of numerous walks and a couple of timely hits the Kent team finally broke through and shortened an already long game by beating Federal Way American by ten runs. The final score was 14-4.
They now go on to play the winner of Tahoma and Soundview on Tuesday at 6pm. Hope to see you all there.
Game Day Monday
Girls 9/10 I haven't had a report, but I see that they lost to BLS and are now out of the tournament. Our thanks goes out to Scott and the parents for working so hard to get these 10 young ladies the All Star experience they deserved. We wish, they had been able to continue further, but I think with the experience they have had, they'll be better for it next year. As for next year we are working hard with D10 to change the way the girls program are set up. We are looking into centralizing their games so as they don't have to travel mid week all over the place to get a game in. If anyone has any ideas that might help the sport grow please don't hesitate to contact your President, or your league Director.
Game Day Tuesday
Boys 9/10 We'll, all I know is that Jacob Roeweder hit one out and the team finally got their bats working. They won a mercy rule invoked game 11-1 and will now play Steel Lake at 6pm (5.45pm)on Wednesday in the Winners bracket final. Please come and support this team as they continue their quest for the D10 Championship.
Game Day Wednesday
Boys 9/10. Game four matched Kent with Steel Lake in the winners bracket final. Well Kent started with Jordan Jones on the mound and what a great performance he had. With some great defense behind him he only allowed one run over his 5+ innings. However, it was the batting that everyone has started to notice. The team over the last few games is just starting to hit it's stride and is finally reaching it's potential. It all started with yet another home run, but this time by the lead-off hitter Logan Vargas, and form there it was lights out. Steel Lake tried on numerous occasions to comeback and score but to no avail. The final score was 9-2 with Logan Vargas coming in to close out the game.Kent's next game is against a team coming through the bottom half of the bracket. The game will be at 3pm (2.45pm start) Saturday.
